Blood Drives at Hillsdale UCC

Margy Kleger was a beloved member of our church who, in addition to many other acts of service, organized multiple Red Cross blood drives in the church Fellowship Hall each year. Margy passed away on June 23, 2022. Hillsdale Community Church will continue to host Red Cross blood drives each year in memory of Margy. Come donate blood to help those in need of it on December 26, 2023.

Please attend the Boomer Auction at Becky Meier’s home. Bring a dish to share for the potluck and two wrapped gifts to auction. One gift should be nice and the other one can be fun or clever.

Items will be auctioned to raise money for Hoyt Street meals. The money will be used to purchase ingredients for meals. Each meal has a delicious main dish, a salad, bananas, bread, dessert, and milk.

Rev. Amy Lightning from Brighton Hospice is coming to Hillsdale Community Church to gift us with a free presentation on being at Peace with Death and Reconciliation of Relationships.

All are welcome.  Bring friends and family.

Classical Up Close celebrates its 10th anniversary with a festival of FREE chamber music concerts shared by musicians from the Oregon Symphony.

Climate change is a heart-breaking reality that affects us all, regardless of our socio-economic background, spiritual beliefs, zip code, or any other identifier that divides us. We all share this planet, and we all have cause to grieve the great losses we are experiencing.

For their next shared meal, Climate Café has invited a group of community members to share their experiences of climate grief and hope for a better future. The program will feature music, poetry, and authentic sharing from these local artists, musicians, students, and entrepreneurs.

This pop up will provide a safe space for everyone who attends to explore these themes, over an earth-friendly, gourmet meal prepared with locally-sourced plant foods. This is an opportunity to investigate how climate change affects you, your loved ones, your community, and your world.

Come dig into it with us, and let's create a better future together. 

All are welcome, regardless of spiritual beliefs or financial means. Donations are appreciated but not required. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.

In an effort to address the feelings of uncertainty and fear humanity is experiencing at this time in history, Hillsdale Community Church, Eagle Spirit, Earth & Spirit Council, and P'nai Or are all working together on an inspired speaker series called: “Wisdom & Hope for the Next Seven Generations.”

Domyo Burke will be presenting at 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 17 at Hillsdale UCC. She is the spiritual leader of Bright Way Zen in Beaverton, Oregon.

Questioning the effort and excess of a traditional Thanksgiving that still leaves you feeling empty? Want to try something a little different and maybe a lot more fun? How about coming together on Thanksgiving Day with fellow humans who are longing for a better world to build community and share a meal that's good for you and the planet?

This year Christ the Healer UCC is offering its annual all traditions Thanksgiving Day living food potluck, as a celebration of community and good plant food at our Climate Café venue in SW Portland, Hillsdale Community Church.

This is a potluck. Bring your favorite plant-based dish (cooked or raw) to share and/or organic ingredients to help create a gigantic communal salad. Bring your children, the inheritors of the earth, as we celebrate the earth's generosity and all those who care to share. Service ware, filtered water and dishes provided. Donations welcome!
