A Note from Pastor Jennifer

Welcome to Hillsdale Community Church United Church of Christ. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding or holy union!

As you plan your wedding or holy union, there are so many details to attend to that it’s easy to lose sight of the true meaning of the day—the promises that you and your intended will make, in the presence of God and witnesses, to spend your lives together. Here at Hillsdale Community Church - UCC the goal of everyone who assists you in planning your day is that it be as sacred and special as your love for one another. The better we know each other, the better we can plan the best ceremony for you.

We will meet three to four times for pre-marital counseling and planning. Pre-marital counseling is an opportunity to talk about some issues that come up in most relationships. This is generally a gentle and affirmative process for you as a couple. During all of our planning we will ask God’s guidance and blessing, that this day might be truly a reflection of the love you share.

You may also wish to join us in worship on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m., so that you can get to know us better. As an Open and Affirming congregation, we welcome all. 

Staff

Our staff will assist you in planning your wedding, and on your wedding day.

Office Administrator Helps you to secure the facility on your date and to answer any questions you may have about rental of the facility.

Pastor Provides premarital counseling and planning of ceremony, and presides at the rehearsal and wedding.

Organist Meets with you by phone or in person to plan music, and plays organ or piano on your wedding day.

Wedding Coordinator Assists in arrangement of flowers and candelabra, and assures that the rehearsal and ceremony run smoothly.

Our Location and Facility

Hillsdale Community Church - UCC is a few minutes from I-5,  halfway between Multnomah Village and Hillsdale in Southwest Portland. 

Our Sanctuary features a high, lofted ceiling with soft natural light at all times of day, a pipe organ, and comfortable seating for up to 350 people. There are two rooms available for dressing. The lower level has a Fellowship Hall with large attached kitchen, and is available for receptions.

There is ample free parking in our two lots and on nearby streets.

Fees

FULL WEDDING or HOLY UNION • The fee for a full wedding or holy union at Hillsdale Community Church - UCC is $800 for non-members and $300 for members who have been active a year or more. This includes the use of the facility, and the services of the pastor, organist, wedding coordinator, sound system operator, and custodian. In addition to the Sanctuary, which seats 350 people, you will have the use of two dressing rooms for three hours before your wedding and for one hour afterward. If you choose another pastor to officiate, the total fee will remain the same.

SMALL WEDDING or HOLY UNION • The fee for a small wedding or holy union of 35 or fewer guests is $300 for non-members and $50 for members who have been active a year or more. A small wedding or holy union does not include a rehearsal, the services of the wedding coordinator, or music during the ceremony. It does include the services of the pastor for premarital counseling and officiating, one dressing room for an hour before the ceremony, the use of the Sanctuary during the ceremony, and custodial services. 

FELLOWSHIP HALL RECEPTION

If you would like to have your reception in our Fellowship Hall, the fee is $150 for non-members. There is no charge for active members. 

Service by Reception Committee (does not include food)

Up to 50 guests              $200.00

Each additional 50 guests$100.00

Food service, an additional $100.00

The reception fee includes making arrangements, help and consultation on what is needed for a reception, complete set-up, preparation of beverages served, the preparation of tables, use of the church dishes and silver service, and all clean-up. The length of time you will be using the Fellowship Hall must be cleared with the reception hostess as well as the church office. 

PAYMENT

A non-refundable deposit of $200 is due at the time you schedule your date. The remainder must be paid at least two weeks before the wedding date.
