Hillsdale Community Church - United Church of Christ has been an important part of the Southwest Portland community for over 90 years. Those decades have seen a lot of changes, in the neighborhood and in the church, but we remain a community of love that keeps looking ahead to the future. God is still speaking!


Worship - every Sunday 10:30 a.m.

Adult Sunday School - every Sunday 9:15 a.m. (child care provided)

Staff

Pastor Jennifer Brownell
An enthusiastic member of the United Church of Christ since childhood, Jennifer received her call to ministry after working in a library, publishing company, museum, and health food store. She received her Master of Divinity at Seattle University's School of Theology and Ministry. Jennifer’s special interests in ministry include encouraging relationships across generations; exploring many names for God and forms of prayer; working with teams to create inspiring worship; and justice for children, people with disabilities, and gay and lesbian people. She has published several essays, and is the co-author of one book, A Million Visions of Peace: Wisdom from the Friends of Old Turtle. In 2008, she received national recognition for “Thinking About It,” a sermon celebrating a faith that embraces science. When she’s not at church, Jennifer enjoys messing around in her messy yard, walking, blogging, and exploring Oregon’s beaches with her husband Jeff, their son Elijah, and their dogs Rainy and Max.
